I want to do some promoting.

I know there are people out there who want a wolfdog, but wolfdogs are NOT for everyone.

There is a brand new breed of dog called a Blue Bay Shepherd. The first puppies were born in 2011.

I’m doing my own looking-into of this breed. They are GORGEOUS creatures! Apparently they have an amazing temper. These will be one of the dogs I will begin pointing people to who consider own a wolfdog. If they simply want the wolfy-look, I have a list of recommendations. If they want to try the mental attitude, I definitely suggest a husky or malamute. (If you can handle the strong-willed spirits of these guys, you MAY be the right person for the incredibly strong-willed and independent wolfdogs)

I’m encouraging everyone to go look at these gorgeous BBS’s!

I must apologize for the lack of photos and stories. My husband finally received his orders yesterday. Our entire family has been under a great deal of stress not knowing where we would be moving to. It seems that we shall be moving to New Jersey! In two weeks, I’ll be loading up all our pets into a vehicle and driving 17 hours to our new home.

I’ll try and take lots of pictures during our journey, but rest assured there will be plenty once we are home. It will be the first time Titan and my husband have met, and the first time in five months that he has seen Zephyr.

This GIF is a perfect representation of Zephyr and Titan’s relationship.

Titan. (taken using an Instagram filter) We recently got him phenotyped as a low content hybrid.

Wolfdog story of the day;

I made a HUGE breakthrough with Titan today! I went out back and sat down with Zephyr to pick out the fur she’s blown. Titan kept walking around me, whining. I kept offering him my hand. He’d come over, sniff it or my face, then high-tail it back to a ‘safe’ distance. Because of his size, I’m not rushing or pushing him. I want him to bond with me in his own time. Well, he suddenly comes close enough for me to touch, so I scratch his back and sides. I guess he decided that was good, because he stood still and let me rub him. After a few minutes, he came closer and sat down beside me! He stayed for almost thirty minutes and then LAID DOWN beside me! He even lifted his legs for me to scratch under them! I was so excited! He even lifted his tail and acted happy!

Wolfdog story of the night;

I got home from the movies and sat down to get online for a little while before going to bed. Titan and Zephyr are in the backyard. All of a sudden I hear a noise. I mute the TV. It’s Titan, howling (I’ve gotten pretty good at distinguishing barks and howls between the two- even whines). Normally, I wouldn’t care- they’re wolfdogs and they howl. It’s natural. Sadly, I live in the MIDDLE of city and in a pretty crowded (but dog friendly) neighborhood. [Side track- I’ve had neighbors come to me and be like, “How are your babies? We hear them howling sometimes.” I usually assume this means, “Please make them stop.”] I go to the door to see what the big deal is. I can’t see Titan in the dark, but I hear him near the deck, he comes into view. I point at him. “YOU.” I say sternly. “There is NO reason for that.” He lays down. I close the door and go back to the computer. There has been silence since.

TL;DR- They’re very smart and I honestly believe they understand what you tell them- whether they listen or not is up to them ;D

Titan, 16 (or so) months. Finally phenotyped correctly! He is an ‘upper’ low content wolf hybrid.

Zephyr, 2 1/2 years.

I just discovered that there is a wolf and wolfdog sanctuary in the same state that I currently live in. I don’t know if they allow visitors, but I’m attempting to contact them and see if I could ever come visit. I’ve been seeing pictures of their residents for a few months and wondered where they were located.
